Already have a player panel? When specialist recruitment can help
Back
An established player panel can be a valuable resource.
Your team may know how to reach its members, understand their participation history and have effective systems for inviting them to research.
When considering external recruitment, the question is where a specialist partner could add value to the studies you need to run.
When the next brief needs a different audience
- A community built around one game may contain many committed players. A future study might need people who stopped playing, prefer another franchise or have never tried the title.
- Those audiences may require different sourcing routes and a fresh assessment of what makes someone suitable.
- External recruitment can cover a complete brief, including studies where the audience extends beyond your existing community.
When familiarity affects the research
- For some studies, previous exposure to a game, feature or concept matters.
- Your panel may already record the information needed to assess that. Where it does not, additional screening and validation may help establish whether someone brings the perspective the research requires.
- Using an external source does not automatically establish unfamiliarity. The relevant experience still needs checking against the brief.
When participant management needs dedicated ownership
- Recruitment involves more than generating applications.
- Reviewing responses, clarifying experience, coordinating selection and preparing participants all require attention. Your team may have the skills and systems to handle those tasks, while also having other research commitments.
- A specialist partner can take ownership of the agreed recruitment work, leaving your researchers with defined review and decision points.
When local requirements change the task
- A large panel does not necessarily contain enough suitable people who can attend a particular venue on the required dates.
- Location, travel and multi-session availability can change the practical audience considerably. Specialist sourcing may help reach beyond the people already available through your own channels.
- Feasibility still needs assessing against the full commitment.
Agree how the relationship will work
- Be clear about which audiences and tasks the external recruiter will own, what information your team needs and who makes selection decisions.
- Where internal and external recruitment run together, also agree how potential duplicate applications and previous participation will be handled.
- At Gromotion, we can manage complete recruitment briefs or a defined part of a wider study. The scope should reflect the audience, your internal resources and the responsibility you want us to take.
